From evidence to analysis

    Find and verify

    We track policy changes, data, research and reporting. Each factual claim should link to a named and dated source.

    Standard

    Use primary sources where possible. Identify credible secondary sources clearly.

    Interpret

    Explain

    We explain how developments may affect institutions, public goods and strategic choices. Analysis is kept separate from reported fact.

    Consider reasonable alternative explanations and state uncertainty.

    Recommend

    Consider options

    We identify questions, policy options and areas that may benefit from earlier attention.

    Standard

    Describe the evidence, limits and trade-offs. Do not present a proposal as a settled answer.
